01. what we do

Q.

What does Lineate do, in a nutshell?

A.

In ten words: We handle the hardest parts of building truly standout software.

We envision, build and test the kind of complex, ambitious, data-heavy software that lets businesses deliver outstanding user experiences.

Q.

What kind of work won’t you do?

A.

Ah, we’re pretty industry-agnostic - it’s more about scale. Want to build a dashboard that parses information from billions of data points in real-time? Call us.

We cut our teeth in adtech, solving real-time data and bidding engines using NoSQL back when it was cutting-edge. That said, we have a huge swath of experience across complex industries; finance, media, publishing, auto tech, to name a few.

Curious to see who we’ve worked with?

Our work

02. expertise

Q.

What makes you so confident you can solve the hardest software problems?

A.

1. Our industry experience. Even for the most challenging data-centric, high-traffic stuff - we’ve likely seen and solved something like it before.

2. Our people. We hire for the love of pure, tear-your-hair-out problem solving and we celebrate that love of complexity throughout our culture.

Q.

Why not label yourself as “outsourced work”?

A.

Well, we aren’t just coders for hire - we’re your visionary partners that help strategize and execute on your most ambitious projects.

Plus, outsourced work has a reputation for being risky, difficult and disappointing. We make it a priority to be none of those things.

Q.

You guys aren’t the cheapest. How can I know I’m getting value?

A.

Honestly? You won’t really know until you work with us for the first time and experience our methodology and level of execution.

But you’ll definitely know when your software is still performant years from now, without us having to rebuild or fix it.

03. methodology

Q.

What’s the Lockstep method?

A.

That’s our unique discovery phase of the project - where we immerse ourselves in understanding your business goals to better serve the mission and method of the project.

Q.

What kind of work won’t you do?

A.

The keep-the-lights-on, boring stuff.
Our team comes alive when the project aims for incredible outcomes.

Q.

What is your architecture philosophy?

A.

We’re all about the“quick and clean” method. That means building it once, the right way - emphasizing future-proofing systems so that work doesn't have to be redone as markets evolve. We avoid “quick and dirty" approaches to avoid inevitable future problems.

We design for the cloud and for real-time data intensity; and we know when and how to use the latest technologies (and when not to). Together that adds up to systems where modularity, composability and architectural flexibility are instrumented for success.

04. timing and SLAs

Q.

What guides your project timelines?

A.

Structure and documentation - but above all, agility and flexibility.

We know that when plans are dashed against reality, reality tends to win. So, we prioritize being able to adapt.

Q.

How do you ensure you hit project deadlines?

A.

We measure sprint-by-sprint velocity and adjust personnel or scope as needed.

We build in milestones to deliver early and often. No big-bang projects where the first look happens at the end.

And we foster a culture of accountability and independence in our people. This goes a long way towards maintaining transparency and accuracy through our timeline.

Q.

It’s 10PM and my remote team’s run into a serious blocker. What can I do?

A.

Call us up! Our Client Partners are located stateside and act as buffers between your urgent technical needs and our engineers. They’ll translate any changing project situations into actionable technical tasks so our team members are able to act as swiftly as possible.

Q.

What can I expect in terms of support after a project’s wrapped up?

A.

Even though we highly prioritize the “future-proof” aspect of our work, we leave our clients with robust, structured documentation as the project concludes. So if the project ever needs further tweaking or building upon, whoever is doing it—even if it’s not us—will have an easy time doing so.

Also, after we’re done, our clients’ development teams tend to have a solid understanding of what we did, why we did it, and how. (One of the virtues of working transparently.)

We do offer ongoing hosting support and maintenance services. But if, post-wrap up, you need any small tweaks, have post-project questions or the like - we don’t nickel-and-dime. We want to leave clients glowing about their software, never half-satisfied.

The truth is that most of our customers stick around with us for years. We become a makeshift extension of their company, working alongside them on whatever helps them reach their goals.
